On March 7, Suwanna Rongwiriyaphanich [S.Rongwiriyaphanich@tudelft.nl], presented advancements of her doctoral research in the RPS Seminar Series. Her work on the importance of understanding cultures in flood management. In her own words:

“Why understanding cultures in flood management is necessary?

Civilisation has experienced increasing environmental challenges caused by conflicts between the growing population with the increasing consumptions and the limited natural resources in fragile ecological systems. Radical changes in territorial management are called for to cope with these challenges. The reform has been informed by transfers of knowledge, technologies and policies. So-called ‘best-practices’ were transferred from one place to other places, aiming to solve the seemingly common problems. Reform of flood management in delta regions through these transfers is not an exception.”
