According to the organiser of this event, Bardia Mashhoodi,PhD candidate at TU Delft at the Chair of Urban Design, :”In the last few years, applying computer generated simulation models has become very fashionable in academic research in the fields of spatial planning and design.

At the same time, the use of such models has come under attack from various sides: can electronic models assist urban planners and designers in taking decisions in real life? Nuno Pinto, of the University of Coimbra, gives a series of lectures followed by discussions on the application of simulation models for planning purposes. We try to gather different points of view at a same table and discuss the validity and relevance of modeling for the planning activity”.

The discussant is Vincent Nadin, research leader of department of urbanism and Professor of spatial planning and strategy.
