We are very pleased to have Dr. Lidewij Tummers to present her recent work (the poster has been attached).

The abstract of her presentation is as follows:
‘Gender equality is a fundamental right, a common value of the EU, and a necessary condition for the achievement of the EU objectives of growth, employment and social cohesion’. (EU Roadmap for equality between men and women 2006-10 (COM(2006) 92 final).Amongst all equality policies concerning non discrimination, gender equality is a concept that has a fair implementation status in labour market and social policies at European as well as at regional level. All EU programmes require proof of gender-awareness. Also in other countries gender equality is the subject of many policies and theory. Dr. Lidewij Tummers will describe very briefly the development of gender theory since 1980, and spend the most time on current gender-aware approaches to spatial planning. She will introduce several networks of researchers and practitioners, which could be useful to integrate a gender and equality perspective in research.
